Armand Gauz, l’écrivain Ambassadeur de United Souls

Armand Gauz, the writer Ambassador of United Souls

On October 21st and 22nd, Ivorian writer Armand Gauz was the guest of independent bookstores Terra Nova and La Préface for two lecture-debates preceded by a musical selection. The event was organized by Jacques Goba, founder of the United Souls brand and member of the Toulouse collective KALAKUTA PRODUCTIONS.

After Debout-Payé and Camarade Papa - a novel awarded the Grand Prix littéraire d'Afrique noire 2019 - Gauz returns to the literary scene with his latest opus Black Manoo published on August 28, 2020 by The New Attila .

As part of the promotion of his book, Gauz came to share with us "Tohourou" (the Bhété oratory art that he handles with ease).

Black Manoo is the poignant tale of an undocumented junkie from Abidjan who bursts into Belleville in the 90s. A world novel that makes each place, each personality, the crucible of a universe. With this novel, Gauz unites the two veins that made his success: social observation and the fate of characters on the margins of the law. He invents a literary style of electric concision, as dense and intense as the most furious of music.

A great admirer of Gauz's literary work, Jacques Goba had the opportunity to meet him during his last stay in Ivory Coast, where a friendship was formed around their commitment. It was therefore quite natural that Gauz agreed to be an Ambassador for the United Souls brand.

Armand Gauz, proudly wearing his Thomas Sankara t-shirt, presents Black Manoo on the independent news channel Le Média.
