A pioneer of African unity
September 21 marks the birth of Kwame Nkrumah , an iconic figure of African independence and the father of modern Pan-Africanism . The first president of Ghana , he led his country to independence in 1957 , becoming a central player in the continent's liberation. A tireless visionary, Nkrumah firmly believed that African unity was the only way to resist neocolonialism . In 1963, he founded the Organization of African Unity (OAU) , laying the foundations for political, economic, and cultural cooperation among African nations.
A contemporary echo: the Alliance of Sahel States
Today, his dream finds an echo in current events: the birth, a year earlier, of the Alliance of Sahel States (ESA) . This alliance is in direct line with Nkrumah's struggle: a pan-African response to attempts at external interference, a bulwark against the exploitation of a coveted African subsoil and an affirmation of regional sovereignty . At a time when economic and geopolitical challenges are intensifying, Nkrumah's vision is more relevant than ever.
A creation by Joy Hanoun

It is a vibrant tribute to the Pan-African heritage , both timeless and resolutely forward-looking.
