His approach invites Africans to produce their own historical and scientific research. A committed Pan-Africanist, he also worked on the cultural unity of Africa and was active in Senegalese political life. Having passed away in 1986, he left behind a body of work that continues to fuel debates on history, knowledge, and emancipation.
