Illustrator and art director, Olivier Bonhomme lives and works in Montpellier. Starting in 2012, he collaborated with Le Monde and the Washington Post. At the same time, he co-founded Studio BK in Lyon, with which he explores the role of imagery on stage and in space, in all its forms.

After a stint in comic books, he dedicated himself to illustration and his personal series. He develops a surrealist universe where pop iconography meets symbolism. From graphic storytelling to mural and digital experiments, his work evolves while maintaining two guiding principles: the clear line and the play of colors.

His creation dedicated to Aimé Césaire is part of the United Souls collaboration. On this unisex hoodie, the design accompanies a tribute to the Martinican poet, a figure of Négritude and anti-colonialism. With jeans or under a jacket, the softness of organic cotton and recycled polyester gives this memory a place in everyday life.

THE POET OF NÉGRITUDE

AIMÉ CÉSAIRE (1913-2008) - MARTINIQUE

Born in Basse-Pointe in Martinique, Aimé Césaire was a poet, writer, and politician. A major figure of Négritude, he made poetry a voice to assert Black identity and denounce colonial domination. His Notebook of a Return to the Native Land and his Discourse on Colonialism occupy a central place in this body of work. Also a deputy and mayor of Fort-de-France, he deeply marked Martinican political and cultural life. Dying in 2008, he left behind a philosophy that continues to nourish reflections on dignity, memory, and emancipation. Through this creation by Olivier Bonhomme, United Souls pays tribute to his legacy.
