THE AFRICAN ANTI-COLONIAL STRATEGIST

AMÍLCAR CABRAL (1924-1973) - GUINEA-BISSAU AND CAPE VERDE

An agronomist by training, Amílcar Cabral was a major thinker and leader of the African anti-colonial struggle. Co-founder in 1956 of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), he organized the fight against Portuguese colonial rule. His philosophy placed culture, education, and solidarity with the people at the center. An intellectual, diplomat, and strategist, he advocated for an emancipation founded on collective commitment and the responsibility of leaders. Assassinated in Conakry in 1973, he left behind a legacy that still fuels reflections on freedom and dignity. Through this creation by Joy Hanoun, United Souls pays tribute to his journey.
