AMÍLCAR CABRAL (1924-1973) - GUINEA-BISSAU AND CAPE VERDE

An agronomist by training, Amílcar Cabral was a major thinker and leader in the African anticolonial struggle. Co-founder in 1956 of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), he organized the fight against Portuguese colonial rule. His philosophy placed culture, education, and solidarity with the people at the center. As an intellectual, diplomat, and strategist, he advocated for emancipation based on collective commitment and leadership responsibility. Assassinated in Conakry in 1973, he leaves behind a legacy that continues to fuel reflection on freedom and dignity. Through this design by Joy Hanoun-Ley, United Souls pays tribute to his journey.
