A minimalist drawing, a powerful gaze. Thanks to her keen sense of perspective, Marie-Claire Laffaire focuses her creation on the eyes of Frantz Fanon. Conceived as a “Fanon mask,” the drawing echoes Black Skin, White Masks and invites us to discover the thought behind this face.

This creation was born from a collaboration with director Jean-Claude Barny to prepare audiences for the release of his film Fanon. An encounter between drawing, cinema, and transmission, bringing history and anti-colonial reflection into everyday life.

This unisex Frantz Fanon hoodie extends this encounter. Worn with jeans or under a jacket, it gives pride of place to the drawing and the thought it conveys: a tribute to mental, cultural, and political emancipation.

THE ANTI-COLONIAL PSYCHIATRIST

FRANTZ FANON (1925-1961) - MARTINIQUE

Born in Martinique, Frantz Fanon was a psychiatrist, writer, and major thinker of the anti-colonial struggle. His work in Algeria fueled his reflection on the psychological wounds of colonial domination, alienation, and racism. In Black Skin, White Masks and The Wretched of the Earth, he explores the conditions for mental, cultural, and political emancipation. Committed to the FLN, he placed his thought at the service of peoples in struggle. Dying in 1961 at the age of 36, he left behind a body of work that continues to illuminate reflections on freedom, identity, and dignity.
