A design by artist Fred Ebami

Gil Scott-Heron’s committed voice meets the energy of pop art on this unisex hoodie. Fred Ebami has created a colorful, seventies-inspired design to pay tribute to the poet and musician who made his voice an instrument of social consciousness.

Worn over a t-shirt or with jeans, this hoodie is perfect for cooler days. Its blend of organic cotton and recycled polyester provides softness and comfort, while the design brings art and committed poetry into everyday life.

A creation by artist Fred Ebami

A French-Cameroonian pop artist, Fred Ebami creates using photographs and drawings that he reworks on the computer. In his artistic practice, he combines digital creation with interventions using Posca markers, spray paint, or brush paint, weaving a unique link between the organic and the digital. Passionate about posters and lithographs, he plays with slogans and bright colors to catch the eye and convey a message. His design of Gil Scott-Heron brings this pop energy into dialogue with the poet and musician’s committed voice.

In 2018, the South African magazine Tropics named him one of the most influential African artists.

An American poet, musician, and writer, Gil Scott-Heron combined jazz, soul, funk, and spoken word. In the 1970s, his voice and lyrics denounced racism, poverty, and social injustice. Works such as The Revolution Will Not Be Televised and Winter in America embody this committed voice. Considered one of the precursors of hip-hop, he left behind a body of work where poetry becomes a tool for consciousness and emancipation.
