A piece for cooler days, words to open the gaze. This unisex United Souls sweatshirt pays tribute to James Baldwin through a design by Camille Laforcenée, accompanied by a phrase chosen by United Souls: “I have to make conscious of the things you don't see.” The combination of drawing and words invites us to become aware of what escapes our vision, in the spirit of the artist's role.

In Desert Dust, heather grey, or white, its relaxed fit can be worn over a t-shirt or with jeans. Its blend of 85% organic cotton and 15% recycled polyester, with a weight of 281.42 g/m², creates a silhouette where art accompanies daily life. Set-in sleeves and a half-moon detail at the back complete this United Souls piece.

A creation by Camille Laforcenée

An architect by training, Camille Laforcenée chose to dedicate herself to her art. As a draftswoman, engraver, and screen printer, she seeks to create textures, depth, and meaning, while maintaining a technical rigor that nourishes her process. Her practice combines drawings, fanzines, and prints, ranging from screen printing to copper engraving, tetra pack printing, and linocut.

She taught artisanal screen printing for three years at the 54fils workshop in Toulouse. Her drawings have illustrated covers for BLAST editions, which published her work on self-portraits in Telle Quelle in October 2022. A member of the Atelier de la Main Gauche since 2021, she has been teaching in their weekly workshops since 2023.

I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO

JAMES BALDWIN (1924-1987) - USA

An American writer and essayist, James Baldwin explored racism, identity, love, and the tensions of American society. Having moved to France in 1948, he returned to the United States to join the Civil Rights Movement. Through his books and speeches, he invites us to face injustices squarely and to question the narratives that shape our lives. Raoul Peck’s documentary I Am Not Your Negro extends the reach of his thought.
