An illustration by artist Camille Laforcenée
Free thought sketches the future. Camille Laforcenée portrays Malcolm X composed, elegant, and thoughtful. The words "Liberate our minds by any means necessary" accompany the portrait: an invitation to cultivate one’s independence of mind and to move forward with the strength of one’s convictions.
United Souls chooses to have this phrase resonate with another pose of Malcolm X. His gaze, his suit, and his hand near his chin reveal a thoughtful determination. Wearing this design means circulating his memory in the public space, sparking a conversation, and sharing the momentum of emancipation that runs through his commitment against racism and imperialist domination.
This unisex Malcolm X hoodie pairs the design with a blend of organic cotton and recycled polyester. Its relaxed fit complements your daily outfits, whether worn with jeans or under an open jacket, giving the design all the prominence it deserves. At United Souls, style has meaning.

RESPECT BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY
MALCOLM X (1925-1965) - UNITED STATES
An African-American activist born in 1925, Malcolm X made the fight against racism and Black emancipation the heart of his commitment. After a period of incarceration during which he educated himself through reading, he became a major spokesperson for the Nation of Islam. He replaced his surname with the letter X as a sign of breaking with the legacy of slavery.
After breaking with the organization, his travels in Africa and the Middle East nurtured an international and Pan-African perspective. He framed the struggle of African Americans within the fight for human rights and founded the Organization of Afro-American Unity. Assassinated on February 21, 1965, in Harlem, he left behind a body of thought that continues to fuel battles for dignity, autonomy, and justice. Through Camille Laforcenée’s illustration, United Souls pays tribute to this memory.
