A bit of light in ordinary days. Moved by the story of Marielle Franco, watercolorist Amandine Szczepaniak replaces her afro hairstyle with five Brazilian flowers: blue for life and youth, pink for sexuality, violet for spirit, red for passion, and orange for pride. For the artist, this gesture symbolically restores what racism and imperialist domination stole from her, and from the Brazilian people. Art makes her memory bloom again and offers her a promise of eternity.

With its relaxed fit and blend of organic cotton and recycled polyester, this artist sweatshirt is perfect for a stroll, a coffee break, or a day out with friends. Its set-in sleeves complete a silhouette that pairs well with jeans or under a jacket: the art of wearing your convictions with elegance, without waiting for a special occasion. At United Souls, style has meaning.

About Amandine Szczepaniak

After working in crafts and fashion, Amandine Szczepaniak joined the Toulouse Fine Arts School in 2010, discovering in watercolor a terrain to explore time, between control and letting go. Also a storyteller, author, and illustrator, she published her first children's book, "Gaston au Muséum," with L'École des loisirs in 2016. Her work combines image and word with poetry and humor.

ICON OF THE AFRO-BRAZILIAN QUEER STRUGGLE
MARIELLE FRANCO (1979-2018) - BRAZIL

Marielle Franco was a politician assassinated on March 14, 2018, in Rio de Janeiro. Born in a favela, she studied sociology and public administration. Active in civil society and later with the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL), this lesbian activist fought against racism and police violence targeting women and Black minorities. In 2016, she was elected as a city councilor in Rio with the fifth-highest number of votes overall and the highest number of votes for a woman in that position. A rising figure in Brazilian politics committed to fighting corruption, Marielle Franco chaired the Women's Rights Commission, becoming a target for criminal and far-right organizations. In the aftermath of her assassination, hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated their outrage across the globe.
