Keep hope close to you, let life radiate. Moved by the story of Marielle Franco, watercolorist Amandine Szczepaniak replaces her afro hairstyle with five Brazilian flowers: blue for life and youth, pink for sexuality, purple for spirit, red for passion, and orange for pride. For the artist, these colors symbolically restore to her what racism and imperialist domination stole from her, and from the Brazilian people. A portrait to extend her presence and turn art into a promise of eternity.
Its relaxed fit, set-in sleeves, and blend of organic cotton and recycled polyester are perfect for days on the move. Whether worn with jeans or dress trousers, this unisex artist sweatshirt gives your convictions a place in everyday life, from a stroll to a meeting with friends. At United Souls, style has meaning.
About Amandine Szczepaniak
After a background in craftsmanship and fashion, Amandine Szczepaniak joined the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse in 2010, finding in watercolor a medium to explore time, between control and letting go. AN ICON OF THE AFRO-BRAZILIAN QUEER STRUGGLE
MARIELLE FRANCO (1979-2018) - BRAZIL
Marielle Franco was a politician assassinated on March 14, 2018, in Rio de Janeiro. Born in a favela, she studied sociology and public administration. Within civil society and later the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL), this lesbian activist campaigned against racism and police violence targeting women and Black minorities. She was elected as a city councilor in Rio in 2016 with the fifth-highest number of votes, the most for any woman in that position. A rising figure in Brazilian politics committed to fighting corruption, Marielle Franco chaired the Commission for Women's Rights, making her a target for criminal organizations and far-right groups. In the aftermath of her assassination, hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated their outrage around the world.
