Colors to celebrate a free life. Touched by the story of Marielle Franco, watercolorist Amandine Szczepaniak replaces her afro hairstyle with five Brazilian flowers: blue for life and youth, pink for sexuality, purple for spirit, red for passion, and orange for pride. For the artist, this portrait symbolically restores to her—and to the Brazilian people—what racism and imperialist domination stole from her. A tribute turned toward hope, where art becomes a promise of eternity.
With its regular fit and 100% cotton 170 g/m² fabric, this essential t-shirt provides a perfect canvas for the design. Worn with jeans or under a jacket, it brings art into everyday encounters: a way to share the memory of Marielle and to wear your convictions with elegance. At United Souls, style has meaning.
About Amandine Szczepaniak
After a background in crafts and fashion, Amandine Szczepaniak joined the Toulouse Fine Arts school in 2010 and found in watercolor a field for exploring time, between mastery and letting go. Also a storyteller, author, and illustrator, she published her first children's book, "Gaston au Muséum," with l'École des loisirs in 2016. Her work combines image and word with poetry and humor.

THE ICON OF THE AFRO-BRAZILIAN QUEER STRUGGLE
MARIELLE FRANCO (1979-2018) - BRAZIL
Marielle Franco was a politician assassinated on March 14, 2018, in Rio de Janeiro. Born in a favela, she studied sociology and public administration. Within civil society and later the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL), this lesbian activist campaigned against racism and police violence targeting women and Black minorities. In 2016, she was elected a city councilor in Rio with the fifth-highest number of votes and the most votes for a woman in that position. A rising figure in Brazilian political life and an opponent of corruption, Marielle Franco chaired the Commission for Women's Rights, making her a target for criminal organizations and the far-right. In the aftermath of her assassination, hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated their indignation all over the world.
