A gaze that stands out, lives that are told. Against the dark tones of this essential t-shirt, the "Maya Angelou Blue" portrait by Marie-Claire Laffaire brings sand and blue hues into dialogue with the color of the garment. Her realistic approach is also revealed in the words written in tiny print: writer, poet, actress, streetcar conductor, dancer, singer, cook, maid, prostitute, madam, record store clerk, journalist, administrative assistant, university professor, filmmaker, and civil rights activist. An invitation to take a closer look at the multiple lives of a phenomenal woman.

The deep background gives a different presence to the face and the botanical decor, while the name "Maya Angelou" appears in clear lettering. With its regular fit and 100% cotton 170 g/m² fabric, this unisex artist t-shirt pairs well with jeans or an open jacket. The design remains the heart of the outfit, like a memory to be shared and a way to wear your convictions. At United Souls, style has meaning.

THE POET AND CIVIL RIGHTS FIGHTER

MAYA ANGELOU (1928-2014) - UNITED STATES

Maya Angelou was an activist, poet, novelist, actress, filmmaker, and teacher. A victim of violence and trauma in her childhood, literature helped her regain the strength to speak. A central figure in African American cultural life, she also spent time in Ghana, where she hosted Malcolm X. Engaged in the civil rights movement, she made a strong, unique, and literary voice heard to recount the life of a Black woman in segregationist America through seven autobiographical books and poetry. The bestseller "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," published in 1970, is the first volume of her memoirs, written under the guidance of James Baldwin. Included in school curricula, Maya Angelou's work is emblematic of an ongoing fight for equality, justice, and respect.
