An elegance that transcends the ages. Marie-Claire Laffaire pays tribute to Oum Kalthoum in a terracotta monochrome drawing, faithful to the singer's allure. The inscription in Arabic recalls her nickname, "The Star of the East," and accompanies a presence as sovereign as her voice.

This portrait celebrates music that brings people together. An iconic voice of the Arab world, Oum Kalthoum shines beyond the borders of the Maghreb and the Middle East, beyond languages and affiliations. When she sings, her voice becomes a meeting place, a shared emotion.

This women’s-fit organic cotton Oum Kalthoum artist t-shirt brings this tribute into your everyday outfits. Its straight cut can be worn with jeans or dress pants, alone or under a jacket, to give full prominence to the portrait and its story.

THE VOICE OF ARAB UNITY AND IDENTITY

OUM KALTHOUM (approx. 1902-1975) - EGYPT

Oum Kalthoum, nicknamed "The Star of the East," "The Diva," the "People's Singer," the "Nightingale of the Nile," and even the "Fourth Pyramid," is one of the greatest singers in the Arab world. Beginning her career in 1922, she recorded several hundred songs accompanied by a traditional orchestra that never stopped growing. Through her art, she managed to unite Arabs beyond their divisions, and for this reason, is considered the voice of Arab identity and unity. Involved in the evolution of Egyptian society and the Arab nation, Oum Kalthoum sang of revolution, the evacuation of British forces from Egyptian territory, and, with the arrival of Nasser in power, became the embodiment of pan-Arabism. Her song Wallah Zaman Ya Silahi became the national anthem of the United Arab Republic in 1960.
