Sovereign elegance, a voice that unites. Marie-Claire Laffaire pays tribute to Oum Kalthoum in a terracotta monochrome drawing, faithful to the singer's style. The Arabic inscription recalls her nickname, "Star of the Orient": a presence that radiates as much through her voice as through her poise.

This portrait also celebrates the collective power of her music. An iconic voice of the Arab world, whose influence transcends the borders of the Maghreb and the Middle East, languages, and affiliations. When Oum Kalthoum sings, her voice becomes a meeting place, a shared emotion.

This unisex organic cotton Oum Kalthoum artist t-shirt brings this tribute to life in your everyday outfits. With jeans or under a jacket, its classic fit accompanies your days while carrying the elegance of the Star of the Orient and the memory of a unifying voice.

THE VOICE OF ARAB UNITY AND IDENTITY

OUM KALTHOUM (1902 approximate date-1975) - EGYPT

Oum Kalthoum, nicknamed the "Star of the Orient," the "Diva," the "People's Singer," the "Nightingale of the Nile," or even the "Fourth Pyramid," is one of the greatest singers in the Arab world. Beginning her career in 1922, she recorded several hundred songs accompanied by a traditional orchestra that continued to grow. Through her art, she was able to unite Arabs beyond their divisions, and for this reason, is considered the voice of Arab identity and unity. Involved in the evolution of Egyptian society and the Arab nation, Oum Kalthoum sang of the revolution and the evacuation of English forces from Egyptian territory, and with the rise to power of Nasser, became the embodiment of Pan-Arabism. Her song Wallah Zaman Ya Silahi became the national anthem of the United Arab Republic in 1960.
