The Star of the Orient, between elegance and shared emotion. In this earthy red monochrome portrait, Marie-Claire Laffaire embodies Oum Kalthoum, true to her signature look. The Arabic inscription features her nickname, "The Star of the Orient," accompanying this tribute to a sovereign presence.

The design celebrates a voice that brings people together. Iconic to the Arab world, Oum Kalthoum’s music radiates beyond the borders of the Maghreb and the Middle East, beyond languages and affiliations. When she sings, her voice becomes a meeting place, a shared emotion.

This unisex Oum Kalthoum artist t-shirt made of organic cotton extends this presence into your daily wardrobe. Whether worn with casual trousers or under a jacket, its classic cut allows the portrait and the history it conveys to take center stage.

THE VOICE OF ARAB UNITY AND IDENTITY

OUM KALTHOUM (approx. 1902–1975) - EGYPT

Oum Kalthoum, nicknamed "The Star of the Orient," "The Diva," "The People's Singer," "The Nightingale of the Nile," and even the "Fourth Pyramid," is one of the greatest singers in the Arab world. Beginning her career in 1922, she recorded several hundred songs accompanied by a traditional orchestra that continued to grow. Through her art, she succeeded in uniting Arabs beyond their divisions and is, in this capacity, considered the voice of Arab identity and unity. Involved in the evolution of Egyptian society and the Arab nation, Oum Kalthoum sang of the revolution and the evacuation of British forces from Egyptian territory, and with the rise of Nasser to power, she became the embodiment of Pan-Arabism. Her song Wallah Zaman Ya Silahi became the national anthem of the United Arab Republic in 1960.
