Wear art, assert a conviction. With Lumumba Pop Art, Fred Ebami restores to Patrice Lumumba the colors and emblems of his country. This United Souls artist t-shirt brings this committed creation into everyday life: a militant and elegant garment, to be chosen as much for what it expresses as for its style.

Its regular fit and 170 g/m² cotton make for a simple base to pair with jeans or wear under a jacket. In black, navy blue, burgundy, purple, dark chocolate, dark heather gray, or military green, this essential unisex t-shirt complements an outfit without stripping away its personality. At United Souls, style has meaning.

A creation by Fred Ebami

A Franco-Cameroonian artist, Fred Ebami signs a colorful and committed Pop Art portrait. Initiated on the occasion of the return of Patrice Lumumba's relic to the Congo, this creation carries an intent of reappropriation: symbolically returning to Lumumba the colors and emblems of his country that imperialism had confiscated from him. The Congolese colors and the symbolism of the leopard reaffirm his belonging to his country.

Permanently integrated into the United Souls collection, Lumumba Pop Art is a design distinct from the pencil portrait by Marie-Claire Laffaire used for Lumumba Classic and Lumumba Color, and not simply a coloring of it. A different artistic language, to convey the same memory of resistance and sovereignty.

THE MARTYR OF INDEPENDENCE

PATRICE EMERY LUMUMBA (1925-1961) - DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO

A major figure in Congolese independence, Patrice Lumumba became Prime Minister in 1960. His speech on June 30th denounced the violence and humiliation of Belgian colonialism. In a country beset by crisis and foreign interference, he defended the sovereignty of the Congo and a pan-African vision of emancipation. Arrested and then assassinated in January 1961 along with Maurice Mpolo and Joseph Okito, he remains a figure of memory and resistance, a symbol of an independence that must be defended beyond its proclamation. In June 2022, Belgium returned a tooth of Lumumba to the Congo.
