A radiant presence, a dignity that asserts itself. Marie-Claire Laffaire depicts Rosa Parks in a realistic drawing that highlights her glow. The portrait evokes a quiet pride, that of a major figure of the civil rights movement whose determination helped push back racial segregation.

In this resplendent face, one can read a sense of victory over an order that imposed inequality. The artist shows Rosa Parks beyond just the act of refusal: a woman whose presence embodies strength, dignity, and hope. Wearing this portrait is a way to celebrate victories won and keep the demand for equality alive.

This unisex organic cotton Rosa Parks artist t-shirt complements your daily outfits with its classic fit. Worn with jeans or under an open jacket, it gives prominence to Marie-Claire Laffaire’s drawing and the history it conveys.

THE MOTHER OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT

ROSA PARKS (1913-2005) - UNITED STATES

Born in 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama, Rosa Parks was an African-American seamstress. Together with her husband, she campaigned for the registration of Black voters and, after experiencing an initial racist incident on a bus, she joined the local chapter of the NAACP, the civil rights organization. Elected secretary, she documented racist incidents and mobilized specifically around the 1944 gang rape case of Recy Taylor. Eleven years later, on December 1, 1955, her arrest following her refusal to give up her seat to a white man on a Montgomery bus triggered the 381-day boycott of the city's public transport system. As the catalyst for Martin Luther King’s first victorious mass action, Rosa Parks continued her commitment in Detroit, where she passed away on October 24, 2005.
