Ahmad Shah Massoud, born on September 2, 1953, in Afghanistan, was an Afghan military commander and politician. Known as the "Lion of Panjshir," he played a crucial role in the fight against the Soviet occupation and the Taliban. Beyond his military achievements, Massoud was one of the first to warn the international community about the dangers of religious terrorism. A political visionary, he anticipated the rise of Islamic radicalism well before the September 11, 2001, attacks. His assassination in 2001 deprived the world of a courageous leader, while his legacy endures as a symbol of resistance against oppression and a warning about the global threats of terrorism.
