A drawing by artist Afi Kodjobi Tchoukpa

A face etched into bark, a thought drawn with fidelity. Afi Kodjobi Tchoukpa pays tribute to Wangari Maathai through a drawing that evokes her portrait carved into tree bark: her image symbolically blends with the material she dedicated her life to protecting.

Sensitive to her wish that no more trees be cut down to make her coffin, the artist translates this commitment to her convictions into the drawing. The bark becomes the language of this tribute, a link between Wangari and the trees she defended.

This unisex hoodie combines the design with a blend of organic cotton and recycled polyester. Its relaxed fit complements your everyday outfits and carries the memory of "Mama Miti," the mother of trees. A meeting between artistic creation, commitment, and respect for living things.

Hoodie features

• 85% ring-spun combed organic cotton, 15% recycled polyester
• Relaxed fit
• Fabric weight: 8.3 oz/yd² (281.42 g/m²)
• Set-in sleeves

The fabric of this product holds certifications for its organic cotton content

THE AFRO-FEMINIST AND ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVIST

WANGARI MUTA MAATHAI (1940-2011) - KENYA

A Kenyan activist, Wangari Muta Maathai linked environmental protection to social justice and women's empowerment. Nicknamed "Mama Miti," the mother of trees, she founded the Green Belt Movement, which mobilized communities to plant millions of trees and fight against deforestation.

In 2004, she became the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Her commitment serves as a reminder that the preservation of life, democracy, and peace are closely linked. Passing away in 2011, she left behind a legacy of collective action and determination. Through the drawing by Afi Kodjobi Tchoukpa, United Souls pays tribute to her memory.
